I am Chef Marcie Santoemma, and my passion is creating culinary delights for the enjoyment of others. I have been a personal chef, cooking and creating dinner parties from start to finish, since 2001.
I specialize in small parties or gatherings of 20 guests or fewer. Often they are friends and family wishing to get together in the quiet and comfort of their own home or vacation rental, a relaxing alternative to dining out. I’m frequently hired for bachelor or bachelorette parties, corporate retreats, family reunions, small wedding receptions, celebration of life gatherings, bridal showers, anniversaries, and birthday parties. Whatever your special occasion, I welcome the opportunity to prepare a special meal and create a most memorable experience for you and your guests.
I focus my cooking style on comfort foods using fresh organic and sustainably-sourced ingredients. I pride myself in taking care of every little detail. I am well-versed in a variety of cuisines and have a passion for creating dishes that combine palate-pleasing flavors and visually-appealing plate presentations that are nutritious for the body and the spirit.
Although I take my cooking seriously, I am not a “temperamental chef.” I try to find the humor in every situation and am pretty easy going. I have cooked on camera for NBC Productions and for many celebrities, professional athletes, and business luminaries. But in my work, I strive to make every guest feel special and appreciated—you are!

My Specialties as a Personal / Private Chef
I specialize in small parties of 20 or less. My typical dinner party is usually 12 people or fewer. These smaller gatherings allow for a more intimate dining experience and afford me the opportunity to cater to my clients more personally.
I make most all of my cuisine from scratch using the freshest organic ingredients available, and I delight in creating rich and varied menus.
What makes having a personal chef special? We can customize your menu specifically to you and your guests’ liking. Plus all the benefits of staying in the comfort of your own home and not having to worry about the details. I can also accommodate special requirements like food allergies and guest preferences.
My History as a Personal Chef Began back in 2001.
I started my Personal Chef service in Lake Tahoe many years ago and was locally trained, having completed the basic, advanced culinary certificate programs, and an A.A. in Culinary Arts at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC). Although, not as intense as the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) it has given me a great foundation to build from, as well as the opportunity to have met and worked with celebrity chefs Paul Prudhomme and Chef Martin Yan.
Living and working in a resort community has its benefits. I have cooked for many celebrities over my 22 years of practicing the culinary arts. I’ve cooked for several professional athletes, too. And one thing I learned is that quarterbacks do not eat like their linemen!
A Passion for Cooking Has Been a Constant in My Life
It is what first had me start my culinary training. I wasn’t sure where it was going to lead me. I knew I was not cut out to be a restaurant chef; I had no desire for that kind of atmosphere or pace.
Upon graduating from culinary school, my mentor, who was the Executive Chef of Caesar’s Tahoe at the time, suggested I look into being a Personal Chef. He noticed I was very personable and outgoing and thought that would be a good career path for me to explore. I am extremely grateful for his guidance.
